Big Bang Integrated Tourbillion Full Carbon – The perfect fusion

Uniting an in-house manufactured micro-roto tourbillion with ultra-lightweight, robust carbon fibre and Texalium 43mm case (for nearly eternal peace of mind), if ever a watch could be classed as Haute Horlogerie infused with ground-breaking technology, this Big Bang Integrated Tourbillion Full Carbon is it.

Limited to just 50 pieces and individually numbered, the watch brings together two genuine complications: the tourbillion and the micro-rotor. While some may argue the latter isn’t a true complication, we beg to differ. With its skeleton structure, three days of full power reserve and 100% Hublot in-house manufacture, we’d go as far as saying, it’s undeniable. The tourbillion hasn’t escaped Hublot’s innovation and has been designed to be skeletonised and suspended, integrated within a bottom plate dotted with transparent sapphire bridges.

A strap that’s as light as a feather? Well maybe not quite but weighing just 26gms it’s certainly the lightest on the market. With enough ingenuity and precision to be classed as a complication in its own right (figuratively speaking), the strap is supremely comfortable thanks to a flawless integration with the case while the exclusively designed links are individually created for the perfect surface quality.

Ensuring its wearability and longevity is a texalium layer covering the casing for scratch resistance (a hardy combination of a fibreglass core with a thin top layer of 99.99% pure aluminium) and the fibreglass is also integrated into a special resin.

The powerhouse behind this exceptional watch can only be the HUB6035 Manufacture Calibre, visible through the openwork back plate which allows light to penetrate the heart of the movement and it’s certainly a hit.

Square Bang Unico

After an exciting launch in 2022 that proved to be very popular with watch fans, this year Hublot is back with not one, but three handsome new additions. Using state-of-the-art materials the models form part of the Square Bang collection, showcasing the Maison’s exceptional mastery with the use of sapphire and ceramic but would you really expect anything less?

Joining the barrel-shaped models in “The Shaped Collection”, their rather distinctive geometry is the real feat here. With their sandwich-like construction and use of high-tech materials, the Hublot innovation and aesthetic are still as outré as usual, while the six functional h-shaped screws make these beauties instantly recognisable.

Limited to 250 pieces, the exclusive Hublot Square Bang Unico Sapphire, is water-resistant to 50m despite the two-fold challenge of its square format and the case’s multi-layered construction. And sitting at its beating heart? The renowned Unico movement with all of the distinct features on which its reputation is founded, including a 72-hour power reserve and prestigious automatic column-wheel flyback chronograph calibre (a.k.a HUB1280) but perfectly adapted for its square format.

As well as the sapphire model, Hublot has further cemented its pioneer status with the use of ceramics in the shape of two more Square Bang Unicos, available in white or black.

Boasting the One Click interchangeable system, all three watches come with a distinctive rubber strap that is easily swapped out depending on your mood or your outfit, whichever you prefer.

Square Bang Unico: Diamond set editions

If you like your timepieces with lashings of scintillation, look no further. Hublot has unveiled a further eight pieces to the Shaped Collection, focusing on two models, a King Gold and titanium Square Big Bang, available in four different tiers, each one more decadent and bejewelled than the last.

For the first level, you can expect the King Gold or titanium Square Big Bang bezel to be set with 44 white diamonds totalling 1.9 carats. Level two is a more jewelled version where the 138 pave set diamonds (3.3ct) encrust the case, while the third level is what you would class as a piece of jewellery (hence being rather aptly named ‘Jewellery’) and boasts a richer and technically more complex setting with 50 baguette diamonds draping the bezel and a further 94 diamonds set on the case, totalling over 4 carats (4.4 carats to be precise).

And for the piece de resistance, the fourth level. Reaching new heights of scintillation, this piece of ‘high jewellery’ boasts 285 diamonds adorning the case, with both the bezel and the dial set in diamonds, achieving almost 18 carats.

Each piece has an ‘invisible setting’ or claws holding the stones that appear to disappear so that they are flush to the gold or titanium and in an exercise of pure geometry, each diamond has a rectangular and trapezoidal profile matching the square form of the case.

For the lovers of the Big Bang’s hallmark features, they’re still as visible as ever with the six h-screws on the bezel and interchangeable rubber strap, Big Bang's time markers and hands hover over the watchmaker’s own Unico bicompax chronograph.
