At the core of Loupe’s service offering lies watchmakers Jamie, Matt and Jonathan. More than skilled, each watchmaker is Rolex-trained to ensure they maintain the quality and consistency of servicing that defines the brand, while underscoring their unwavering dedication to meeting exacting standards.
To ensure consistent accuracy and optimal performance, Rolex recommends servicing a Rolex timepiece at least once every 10 years. Loupe’s full-service process is characterised by meticulous attention to detail and comprises of several steps which require the use of specific tools and instruments that are tested and sometimes even developed by Rolex.
Jamie Carpenter, Loupe Preston’s dedicated Service Centre Manager says. “We place emphasis on not deviating from Rolex’s processes, the experience of sending your watch to Rolex will be matched by Loupe.”
“Whether a Rolex requires a full service or specific operations such as

Keeping your timepiece in tip-top condition
Loupe Preston’s Client Services Coordinator, Lee Biggs is the key touchpoint for our clients' service journey and has been working with Rolex watches for five years: “All the repairs at Loupe Preston come through me, I allocate them to the workshop for assessment and then compose an estimate to send the client. I’ll then be the point of contact with updates and for any questions throughout the process.”
Once the estimate has been accepted, one of the on-site watchmakers will set to work on separating the bracelet from the case and delicately removing the movement, still fitted with its dial and hands. From that point on, the movement, case and bracelet follow two separate servicing paths.
Each component is carefully examined to determine whether it still meets Rolex requirements – if this is not the case, it is replaced with a new part from the manufacturer in Switzerland, where Rolex movements are produced. All the components are then cleaned in an ultrasonic bath to remove traces of impurities, before being dried.
Every element of the watch is disassembled, individually re-polished or satin finished by hand. These delicate finishing processes, which require great dexterity, restore the sheen and lustre, whilst removing any marks or scratches. One of our watchmakers will gently reassemble the timepiece, measuring its accuracy once again and making any adjustments necessary for it to achieve optimal chronometric performance.
This is followed by comprehensive precision and waterproof testing over a span of at least 24 hours. Lee says: “There is a wide variation of testing to ensure the timepiece leaves the workshop with the Rolex standard of precision and reliability. For instance, the head of the watch gets placed into a machine that moves constantly in different directions, this is to ensure the movement of the client’s wrist doesn’t impact the reliability of the timepiece. During the testing stages the watch is observed frequently to check that everything works, and the correct time is maintained.” Want to find out more?
